SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Michelle R. Smet of Moline, who passed away on November 28, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Michelle Smet was born in Madison, Wisconsin to Michael and Rose (Steinmetz) Bingham on October 21, 1960; she married Joseph Smet in Madison, Wisconsin on May 9, 1992; and

WHEREAS, Michelle Smet proudly served in the United States Army; and

WHEREAS, Michelle Smet was a kid at heart, and her laughter and smile lit up a room; she enjoyed painting, gardening, the Christmas season, and spending time with family; and

WHEREAS, Michelle Smet was preceded in death by her grandson, Grayson; and her nephew, Tyler; and

WHEREAS, Michelle Smet is survived by her parents; her children, Chelsea Smet (Gerry Loeffler), Jared Smet (Victoria Umstattd), and Michela Smet (Doug Bradenburg); her grandchildren, Cali, Ayla, Avreigh, Emery, and Kinsley; her significant other, Kevin Jones; her sisters, Mary and Julie; her brothers, Michael, Mark, and David; and her former husband, Joe; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Michelle R. Smet and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Michelle Smet as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
