SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Dixie Jane Blazier of Harvard, who passed away on December 1, 2017; and

WHEREAS, Dixie Blazier was born in Davenport, Iowa to Gerald and Darlene (Crum) Berryhill on March 25, 1951; she married James (Jim) Blazier in Harvard on November 7, 1970; and

WHEREAS, Dixie Blazier enjoyed a successful career working in the business office at Centegra Health System and Harvard Hospital; and

WHEREAS, Dixie Blazier was active in her church, serving on several different committees throughout the years, most recently as a Deacon; she was also active in her community and participated in breast cancer research fundraising; she enjoyed crocheting baby blankets, baby outfits, and afghans; she was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; she participated in all of her children's activities, including as Girl Scout leader, Sunday School teacher, and attending sporting events; and

WHEREAS, Dixie Blazier was preceded in death by her parents and her stepmother, Elaine Berryhill; and

WHEREAS, Dixie Blazier is survived by her children, Carla Sipe, Jessica (Eric) Sugalski, and Hannah (Mike) Jesski; her brother, John (Kathy) Berryhill; her sisters, Leila (Jim) Novak, Heidi (Jay) Tillotson, and Glenda (Bob) Mundis; her grandchildren, Rachael and Jacob Hayes, James, Jonathon, and Kaitlynn Jesski, and Annica, Julia, and Nathan Sugalski; her great-granddaughter, Amelia Hayes; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Dixie Jane Blazier, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dixie Blazier as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
