SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Edward Paul Moricoli, who passed away on
4December 19, 2016; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Edward Moricoli was born in Woodstock to James and
6Arlene (Wendt) Moricoli on September 7, 1944; he graduated from
7Woodstock High School in 1962, where he played football,
8basketball, and baseball; he studied at Elgin Community College
9and married Mary Shales in Woodstock on October 15, 1989; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Edward Moricoli began his career with Delta
11Airlines; he then worked for Prudential Insurance Company as a
12sales manager and agent for 30 years; he retired from
13Prudential in 1999 and began working as a Court Security
14Officer for the McHenry County Sheriff's Department, where he
15worked for 17 years; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Edward Moricoli became an Illinois High School
17Association (IHSA) football and basketball official in 1969,
18and remained an active member for 34 years and a member for 44
19years; he was chosen to officiate in the 1986 Class 3A, the
201987 Class 4A, and the 1990 Class 2A IHSA State Football
21Championship games in Bloomington-Normal; and

1    WHEREAS, Edward Moricoli was named Northern Officials
2Association Football Official of the Year in 1988, and received
3the George Young Memorial Award for Outstanding Football
4Official in 1995; he received the IHSA Lifetime Member Award in
52009; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Edward Moricoli served on the Woodstock District
7200 Board of Education as Secretary of the Board for five years
8in the early 1980s; he was a member of the Elks Club Lodge
9#1043 in Woodstock and served as President of the EAA Chapter
10932 at Galt Airport in Wonder Lake; he loved flying and had
11recently passed his written test; he had six perfect landings;
12he loved spending time with friends at Galt Airport talking
13about politics, working on aircrafts, and flying; he had booked
14500 hours working on planes; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Edward Moricoli was a Corvette enthusiast and had
16a passion for history; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Edward Moricoli was preceded in death by his wife,
18Mary; his father, Jim; his mother, Arlene; his brother-in-law,
19John Fish; and his mother-in-law, Hulda Shales; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Edward Moricoli is survived by his daughters,
21Katherine (Jeff) Karlin, and Kristine (Brad) Woodson; his
22sister, Barbara Fish; his brothers, James (Mary) and Daniel

1Moricoli; his brothers-in-law, James (Shirley) and Tom Shales;
2his grandchildren, MacKenzie, Madison, Kara, Kiki, Sam, Ben,
3and Eli; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL
5ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
6Edward Paul Moricoli, and extend our sincere condolences to his
7family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
8further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to the family of Edward Moricoli as an expression of
11our deepest sympathy.
