SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Louise Joann Gehrs Stahly of Fort
4Lauderdale, Florida, who passed away on October 9, 2020; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Louise Stahly was born to Homer and Johanna Gehrs
6in Danvers on May 10, 1931; she married Norval R. Stahly in
7Florida in 1950; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Louise Stahly and her husband combined their
9talents and passions, working together to raise a family,
10develop several businesses, and travel the world; they
11established an internationally recognized marina in Fort
12Lauderale, leading a line of power boats on many Poker Run
13trips and participating in offshore racing; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Louise Stahly was a long-time member of the Beta
15Sigma Phi women's sorority and an active member of Zonta
16International, a foundation providing global support to women
17and girls in the form of education, health care, and economic
18opportunities; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Louise Stahly used her private pilot's license to
20participate in powder puff derbies and to fly her friends and
21family far and near; she had a zest for life and loved boats,

1cars, fashion, and friendship; she enjoyed traveling with her
2husband to places all over the world, such as Monaco, Bali,
3London, Paris, and around the Florida Keys and the Caribbean;
4she will be remembered as a warm and humble person with an
5infectious smile; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Louise Stahly was preceded in death by her
7husband; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Louise Stahly is survived by her son, Terry Reid
9Stahly, and her daughter, Vicki Ann Stahly Baur; therefore, be
10it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Louise Joann Gehrs Stahly and extend our sincere condolences to
14her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Louise Stahly as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
