SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Louise Joann Gehrs Stahly of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, who passed away on October 9, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Louise Stahly was born to Homer and Johanna Gehrs in Danvers on May 10, 1931; she married Norval R. Stahly in Florida in 1950; and

WHEREAS, Louise Stahly and her husband combined their talents and passions, working together to raise a family, develop several businesses, and travel the world; they established an internationally recognized marina in Fort Lauderale, leading a line of power boats on many Poker Run trips and participating in offshore racing; and

WHEREAS, Louise Stahly was a long-time member of the Beta Sigma Phi women's sorority and an active member of Zonta International, a foundation providing global support to women and girls in the form of education, health care, and economic opportunities; and

WHEREAS, Louise Stahly used her private pilot's license to participate in powder puff derbies and to fly her friends and family far and near; she had a zest for life and loved boats, cars, fashion, and friendship; she enjoyed traveling with her husband to places all over the world, such as Monaco, Bali, London, Paris, and around the Florida Keys and the Caribbean; she will be remembered as a warm and humble person with an infectious smile; and

WHEREAS, Louise Stahly was preceded in death by her husband; and

WHEREAS, Louise Stahly is survived by her son, Terry Reid Stahly, and her daughter, Vicki Ann Stahly Baur; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Louise Joann Gehrs Stahly and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Louise Stahly as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
