SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Harry Hayes Defenbaugh, who passed away on October 28, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Harry Defenbaugh was born to George and Vernal (Hayes) Defenbaugh of rural Streator on January 8, 1951; he graduated from Woodland School in 1969; and

WHEREAS, Harry Defenbaugh was a farmer in the Streator and Ancona area for his entire life; and

WHEREAS, Harry Defenbaugh was a member of Streator Elks Lodge #591, where he bowled on the men's league for many years; he was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles; and

WHEREAS, Harry Defenbaugh enjoyed the early "breakfast club" shift at the 4 Corners where the locals would meet and converse about what was happening in the area; he loved farming, fishing, boating, bird watching, his friends, and traveling the world and meeting new people; he was an avid collector of cars, tractors, model trains, and unusual things; he was a thoughtful, caring person; and

WHEREAS, Harry Defenbaugh is survived by his sister, Mary (the late Robert) Poldek; his nephews and nieces, Riley (Maureen) Poldek, Kirk (Meghan) Poldek, and Keri (Derek) Christie; and his grandnephews and grandnieces, Katie and Tommy Poldek and Erin and Clara Christie; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Harry Hayes Defenbaugh and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Harry Defenbaugh as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
