HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate James "Jim" Berry on the
4occasion of his retirement as Chief of the Lexington Fire
5Department; and
 
6    WHEREAS, James Berry earned his First Fire Fighter III and
7First Instructor II certifications in McLean County; he also
8served as an Instructor for University of Illinois Fire Service
9Institute; and
 
10    WHEREAS, James Berry served with the Lexington Fire
11Department since June of 1980 and has served as the
12Department's fire chief since 1994; and
 
13    WHEREAS, During his career, James Berry led the Lexington
14Fire Department and other departments in fighting several major
15fires, including the Myers fire in 1990, the Lexington High
16School fire in 2002, the Lexington Fire Station fire in 2002,
17and several other structure fires in Lexington and other
18neighboring communities; he also replaced 4 fire trucks during
19his career; and
 
20    WHEREAS, James Berry is an avid wood worker; and

1    WHEREAS, James Berry and his wife, Kay Berry, have 3
2children, Luke Berry, Shawnalee Smith, and Erin Finnigsmier;
3therefore, be it
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
5NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
6we congratulate James "Jim" Berry on the occasion of his
7retirement and wish him continued success and happiness in the
8future; and be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to James Berry as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
