HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives wish to congratulate Frank Alschuler of
4Chicago on the occasion of his 90th birthday on September 10,
52014; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Frank Alschuler was born on September 10, 1924; he
7attended George B. Swift Elementary School, the University of
8Chicago Laboratory School, Dartmouth College, and the Yale
9School of Architecture; he served in the United States Navy and
10married Marjorie on July 24, 1960; they settled on Junior
11Terrace in 1965; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Frank Alschuler served on the boards of the Voice
13of the People of Uptown, and Model Cities; he and his wife were
14active in neighborhood organizations for their whole lives; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Frank Alschuler is one of the founders of the
16Community Counseling Centers of Chicago (C4), and served on its
17board for 42 years; he has had a life-long commitment to mental
18health, and has been a driving force in the life and growth of
19the organization; he was a licensed architect and did almost
20all of C4's space planning, always billing out the plans pro
21bono; as his children were growing up they spent their free
22time painting the walls at C4 Clark on North Clark with their

1parents; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Frank Alschuler and his late wife, Marjorie, lived
3on Junior Terrace for over 50 years, raising their 2 children
4there; therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
6NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7we congratulate Frank Alschuler on his 90th birthday and wish
8him many more wonderful years; and be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10presented to Frank Alschuler as an expression of our esteem and
11respect.
