HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Rebecca Jane "Becky" Malkovich, who passed away on September 22, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Rebecca Malkovich was born on April 25, 1961 in Benton; her parents were Daniel Leon Malkovich and Joe Anne (nee Choisser) Malkovich; and

WHEREAS, Rebecca Malkovich graduated from Benton Consolidated High School in 1979; she later earned her bachelor's degree in journalism from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale; and

WHEREAS, Rebecca Malkovich worked for the Benton Evening News for 9 years, which her family owned until 1986; she later joined the staff of The Southern Illinoisan in late 2003, working as a reporter on many diverse topics; and

WHEREAS, Rebecca Malkovich enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, music, good writing, coffee, and her pets, Captain and Kitty; and

WHEREAS, Rebecca Malkovich was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Amanda Malkovich; and a brother, Daniel Malkovich; and

WHEREAS, Rebecca Malkovich is survived by 2 sons, Jake Ivanovich and Eli Ivanovich; a brother, John (Nicole Peyran) Malkovich; a sister, Melissa Malkovich; a sister-in-law, Debbie Malkovich; 5 nieces and nephews, Matthew (Brandi) Malkovich, Loewy and Amandine Malkovich, Jesse (Anh Dao Pham) Starita, and Tim (Kim) Eubanks; a grandnephew, T.J. Eubanks; and 2 grandnieces, Bayley Eubanks and Mila Joe Malkovich; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Rebecca Jane "Becky" Malkovich; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Rebecca Malkovich as an expression of our sympathy.
