HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The Illinois General Assembly is losing one of its
3own members - Illinois State Representative Mike Bost - to the
4United States House of Representatives; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Representative Bost was born and raised in
6Murphysboro; he and his wife, Tracy, have been married for 34
7years and have 3 children and 9 grandchildren; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Representative Bost grew up working for Bost
9Trucking, a small business owned by his father and uncle, doing
10everything from hauling coal to washing trucks on weekends; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Representative Bost began his extensive and
12dedicated tradition to public service with his enlistment in
13the United States Marine Corps right after high school; he
14served as an electronic specialist and radar repairman,
15receiving an honorable discharge as a Corporal in 1982; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Representative Bost graduated from the Certified
17Firefighter II Academy of the Illinois Fire Service Institute
18at the University of Illinois in 1993; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Representative Bost served as a part-time and
20full-time firefighter for the Murphysboro Fire Department; he

1has continued to serve the Murphysboro Fire Department during
2his 6 terms as State Representative on an as-needed basis; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Representative Bost was first elected to public
4office in 1984 when he was elected to the Jackson County Board;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, In 1986, Representative Bost served as President
7of the Jackson County Republican Boosters and Treasurer of the
8Jackson County Young Republicans; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Representative Bost served as precinct
10committeeman for Murphysboro Precinct #4 from 1985 to 1989; he
11also served as Treasurer for the City of Murphysboro from 1989
12to 1992 and as a Murphysboro Township Trustee from 1993 to
13April of 1997; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Representative Bost was elected to the Illinois
15House of Representatives for the first time in 1994; since that
16time, he has had the privilege of representing southern
17Illinois in the Illinois House of Representatives; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Representative Bost currently represents the
19115th District, which encompasses all or part of Jackson,
20Jefferson, Perry, Union, and Washington Counties and the
21communities of Anna, Ashley, Carbondale, Cobden, De Soto,

1DuQuoin, Mt. Vernon, Murphysboro, Pinckneyville, and
2Vergennes; and
 
3    WHEREAS, On November 4, 2014, Representative Bost was
4elected to the United States House of Representatives from the
512th Congressional District of Illinois; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
7Representatives would like to thank Representative Bost for his
830 years of public service in the State of Illinois; the
9members of this body will miss the passionate speeches and
10floor debates that Representative Bost has shared with us for
11the last 20 years; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
13NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
14we congratulate State Representative Mike Bost on his election
15to the United States House of Representatives and wish he and
16his family all the best in his future endeavors; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be
19delivered to Representative Bost and the members of the
20Illinois congressional delegation.
