HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Joel Clayton Johnson Sr. of Peoria, who passed away on April 4, 2013; and

WHEREAS, Joel Johnson Sr. was born on August 17, 1962, in Chicago to Bishop Joseph H. and Annie Jo (Hunter) Johnson; he graduated from Woodruff High School in 1980; and

WHEREAS, Joel Johnson Sr. was an ordained minister, peer mentor, and board member at New Hope Apartments and its president's counsel; and

WHEREAS, Joel Johnson Sr. was employed by ComEd for over a decade and held various positions at Caterpillar, Cilco, UPS, and ADM; and

WHEREAS, Joel Johnson Sr. was preceded in death by his mother, Annie Jo Gordon; and

WHEREAS, Joel Johnson Sr. is survived by his children, Joel Clayton Johnson Jr. and Gabrielle Armani Johnson; his father, Bishop Joseph Johnson; his siblings Jonathan (Dedra) Johnson Sr., Illinois State Representative Jehan (Derrick) Booth, Jamal (Rosie) Gordon, Ralph (Gloria) Wrightner, Roger Jordan, Lydell Gordon Jr., Chantay (Corey) Gray, Shando (Don) Harris, Antoinette (Cornelius) Donald, and Daniel (Liz) Billsbury; and 23 foster brothers; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Joel Johnson Sr., and we extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Joel Johnson Sr. as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
