HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois House of
3Representatives pays honor and respect to the truly great
4individuals who have served our country; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Operation Welcome You Home is a local program
6providing respectful, thoughtful, uplifting, and joyous
7homecomings for all of our returning servicemen and women and
8their families; and
 
9    WHEREAS, On April 6, 2013, Operation Welcome You Home and
10the village of Plainfield welcomed home Marine Kevin McSorley,
11as his one year deployment to Afghanistan with the 3rd
12Battalion concluded; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Kevin McSorley attended Crystal Lawns Elementary
14School, Timber Ridge Middle School, and graduated from
15Plainfield Central High School in 2009; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Kevin McSorley chose to join the Marine Corps and
17completed his basic training at the Marine Corps Recruiting
18Depot, San Diego in June of 2011; he subsequently completed his
19training in motor transport at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Kevin McSorley was stationed at Twentynine Palms,

1California, and was deployed to Afghanistan in April of 2012;
2and
 
3    WHEREAS, Kevin McSorley comes from a long line of family
4members that have served our country, including Leo Dilger
5(U.S. Army), John McSorley (U.S. Army), Bob McSorley (U.S.
6Army), and Anthony Alcobia (U.S. Air Force); therefore, be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
8NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
9we thank and honor Marine Kevin McSorley and welcome him home
10from his tour in Afghanistan, where he fought for the very
11freedoms we exercise here in Illinois; and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to Marine Kevin McSorley as an expression of our
14sincere gratitude for his service.
