HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois General Assembly are
3pleased to congratulate Nick Cozzi on the occasion of his first
4Tour de Cure bike ride; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Nick Cozzi was born April 4, 1993, in Joliet, and
6is a resident of Plainfield; and
 
7    WHEREAS, On March 15, 2013, Nick Cozzi marked the third
8year of his diagnosis with type 1 diabetes; and
 
9    WHEREAS, One in 10 Americans are diagnosed with type 1
10diabetes; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Nick Cozzi has overcome the challenges of type 1
12diabetes and is now a happy, independent 20-year-old college
13student; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Nick Cozzi has formed a team for the annual Tour
15de Cure called the Red CUREsaders to raise funding for diabetes
16awareness and to fund research to find a cure for diabetes; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Nick Cozzi has not only demonstrated how to be a
18survivor of type 1 diabetes, but has demonstrated to his
19community how to thrive and push their limits; and

1    WHEREAS, Nick Cozzi, along with his teammate, Dana Grant,
2and their fathers, Mark Cozzi and Steve Grant, will ride the
330-mile race on May 26, 2013 along Chicago's Lake Shore Drive;
4therefore, be it
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
6NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
7we congratulate Nick Cozzi on the occasion of his participation
8in his first Tour de Cure; and be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That we congratulate Nick Cozzi on what he calls
10the "the ride of my life" and admire him for training so hard
11to ride the 30-mile tour in order to raise funding for diabetes
12research and to help find a cure for diabetes; and be it
13further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to Nick Cozzi as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
