HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois General Assembly are pleased to congratulate Nick Cozzi on the occasion of his first Tour de Cure bike ride; and

WHEREAS, Nick Cozzi was born April 4, 1993, in Joliet, and is a resident of Plainfield; and

WHEREAS, On March 15, 2013, Nick Cozzi marked the third year of his diagnosis with type 1 diabetes; and

WHEREAS, One in 10 Americans are diagnosed with type 1 diabetes; and

WHEREAS, Nick Cozzi has overcome the challenges of type 1 diabetes and is now a happy, independent 20-year-old college student; and

WHEREAS, Nick Cozzi has formed a team for the annual Tour de Cure called the Red CUREsaders to raise funding for diabetes awareness and to fund research to find a cure for diabetes; and

WHEREAS, Nick Cozzi has not only demonstrated how to be a survivor of type 1 diabetes, but has demonstrated to his community how to thrive and push their limits; and

WHEREAS, Nick Cozzi, along with his teammate, Dana Grant, and their fathers, Mark Cozzi and Steve Grant, will ride the 30-mile race on May 26, 2013 along Chicago's Lake Shore Drive; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Nick Cozzi on the occasion of his participation in his first Tour de Cure; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we congratulate Nick Cozzi on what he calls the "the ride of my life" and admire him for training so hard to ride the 30-mile tour in order to raise funding for diabetes research and to help find a cure for diabetes; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Nick Cozzi as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
