HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Dr. Fred
4Whitlatch of West Frankfort, who passed away on June 23, 2013;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Dr. Fred Whitlatch was born on April 15, 1952, in
7Tower Hill to Lester and Ilene (nee McDonald) Whitlatch; he
8graduated from Eastern Illinois University in 1974 with a
9degree in education; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Dr. Fred Whitlatch taught high school biology and
11coached multiple sports in Girard from 1975 to 1979; he
12graduated from University of Illinois Dental School in Chicago
13in 1982 and embarked on a new career; he served the West
14Frankfort community as a dentist for 31 years; in 2012, he
15joined Morthland College and returned to teaching biology; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Dr. Fred Whitlatch volunteered his services for
17the annual "Give Kids a Smile" campaign as well as other
18charitable opportunities around the State of Illinois; he was a
19member and president of the Southern Illinois Dental Society;
20and
 
21    WHEREAS, Dr. Fred Whitlatch was a member of Trinity United

1Methodist Church, where he sang bass in the choir and played
2acoustic guitar and often led the praise team; he was actively
3involved with the Walk to Emmaus community from 1966 to 2012,
4where he served as community lay director and led in various
5leadership capacities on many weekend retreats; he was also a
6member of the Lion's Club in West Frankfort; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Dr. Fred Whitlatch is survived by his wife, Debby;
8his parents; his son, Jeff Whitlatch; his daughters, Elise
9(Barnabas) Omulokoli and Corinne Whitlatch; his brothers,
10George (Kathy) Whitlatch and Dale (Karyn) Whitlatch; and his
11sisters, Lois (Lynn) Laughlin and Lynne (Blair) Wagner;
12therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
14NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
15we mourn the passing of Dr. Fred Whitlatch, and extend our
16sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
17and loved him; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Dr. Fred Whitlatch as an expression
20of our deepest sympathy.
