HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, Women In Government Foundation, Inc. was started
3in 1988 as a nonprofit, nonpartisan, nationwide organization to
4serve women state legislators and to provide leadership
5opportunities, networking, expert forums, and educational
6resources to address and resolve complex policy issues; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Women In Government began and continues to work in
8a non-partisan manner to serve all women legislators; and
 
9    WHEREAS, In 1998, there were 1,176 women serving in their
10state legislatures, making up only 15.8% of state legislators;
11today, there are 1,788 women legislators, making up 24.2% of
12state legislators; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Women In Government has served thousands of bold
14and passionate legislative leaders in all 50 states; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Women In Government leads the nation with a bold,
16courageous, and passionate vision that empowers and mobilizes
17all women legislators to effect sound policy; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Women In Government has worked extensively to
19advance policy for improvements at the local, state, and
20national levels; and

1    WHEREAS, Women In Government provides a neutral platform
2for bringing women policymakers together to share information
3and seek solutions to timely issues; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Women In Government holds over 20 educational
5conferences a year on a myriad of public policy issues for
6women state legislators; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Women In Government's website hosts several
8Policy Resource Centers that address childhood obesity, care
9coordination, public health, pulmonary hypertension,
10biomedical policy, oncology, diabetes, economic security and
11opportunities, and autoimmune diseases; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Women In Government has been recognized and
13received numerous accolades for policy work in health care,
14energy, family and child welfare, public health, and education;
15and
 
16    WHEREAS, Women In Government will continue to assist and
17educate women leaders on current policy issues through
18nationwide conferences, workshops, summits, public service
19announcements, toolkits, policy resource centers, and other
20resources; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3we recognize Women In Government Foundation, Inc. and their
4current 1,788 women state legislative members on their
5outstanding work to promote policy education across the nation;
6and be it further
 
7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8presented to the Women In Government Foundation, Inc.
