HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased that Scott Reimers, a longtime and
4distinguished Director of the House Republican Research staff,
5who currently serves as the Chief of Staff for the House
6Republican Leader, was recently inducted into the Samuel K.
7Gove Illinois Legislative Internship Hall of Fame; and
 
8    WHEREAS, The Samuel K. Gove Illinois Legislative
9Internship Hall of Fame honors former legislative interns whose
10careers have exemplified distinguished public service; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Scott Reimers began his career in government
12through the Illinois Legislative Staff Internship Program in
131994, working for the House Republican Staff as a substantive
14and appropriation committee staff member, facilitating the
15Human Services and Insurance committees, and analyzing agency
16budgets; and
 
17    WHEREAS, In 1999, Scott Reimers was promoted to the
18Director of Research for the House Republican Staff as a result
19of his extensive legislative knowledge and his unrivaled work
20ethic; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Scott Reimers has served as a mentor to hundreds

1of legislative research staffers, not only training them on how
2to excel professionally, but also molding them personally and
3developing their skill sets and talents by challenging and
4inspiring them; and
 
5    WHEREAS, As Chief of Staff since 2011, Scott Reimers
6manages a staff that includes the legislative research,
7communications, technology, policy, appropriations,
8legislative assistant, and support functions of the House
9Republican Staff; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Scott Reimers' service extends beyond State
11government, as he is devoted to the practice of his Catholic
12faith and the support of the institution that has educated his
13children by serving on the Blessed Sacrament School Board; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Scott Reimers earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in
15Political Science from Northern Illinois University and a
16Master of Public Administration degree from the University of
17Illinois in Springfield; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Scott Reimers currently serves his alma mater of
19Northern Illinois University as a member of the Alumni
20Association's board of directors; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Scott Reimers' love of Northern Illinois

1University extends beyond the classroom and board of directors
2into the athletic arena; a loyal Husky fan, he had the ability
3to attend the 2013 Orange Bowl with Governor Pat Quinn; and
 
4    WHEREAS, It is a testament to Scott Reimers commitment as a
5public servant that, over the years, many of his colleagues and
6members of the legislature have become his closest friends; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Scott Reimers is a diehard Chicago White Sox fan
8who was able to see his team win the World Series in 2005,
9thanks to his friend and colleague, Illinois State
10Representative JoAnn Osmond; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Scott Reimers is a loving husband and father whose
12greatest joys in life are his wife, Lori, and his children,
13Sophie and Andrew; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
15NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
16we congratulate and thank Scott Reimers for his years of
17exceptional public service and for his induction into the
18Samuel K. Gove Illinois Legislative Internship Hall of Fame;
19and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
21presented to Scott Reimers as a symbol of our respect and
