HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased that Scott Reimers, a longtime and distinguished Director of the House Republican Research staff, who currently serves as the Chief of Staff for the House Republican Leader, was recently inducted into the Samuel K. Gove Illinois Legislative Internship Hall of Fame; and

WHEREAS, The Samuel K. Gove Illinois Legislative Internship Hall of Fame honors former legislative interns whose careers have exemplified distinguished public service; and

WHEREAS, Scott Reimers began his career in government through the Illinois Legislative Staff Internship Program in 1994, working for the House Republican Staff as a substantive and appropriation committee staff member, facilitating the Human Services and Insurance committees, and analyzing agency budgets; and

WHEREAS, In 1999, Scott Reimers was promoted to the Director of Research for the House Republican Staff as a result of his extensive legislative knowledge and his unrivaled work ethic; and

WHEREAS, Scott Reimers has served as a mentor to hundreds of legislative research staffers, not only training them on how to excel professionally, but also molding them personally and developing their skill sets and talents by challenging and inspiring them; and

WHEREAS, As Chief of Staff since 2011, Scott Reimers manages a staff that includes the legislative research, communications, technology, policy, appropriations, legislative assistant, and support functions of the House Republican Staff; and

WHEREAS, Scott Reimers' service extends beyond State government, as he is devoted to the practice of his Catholic faith and the support of the institution that has educated his children by serving on the Blessed Sacrament School Board; and

WHEREAS, Scott Reimers earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Northern Illinois University and a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Illinois in Springfield; and

WHEREAS, Scott Reimers currently serves his alma mater of Northern Illinois University as a member of the Alumni Association's board of directors; and

WHEREAS, Scott Reimers' love of Northern Illinois University extends beyond the classroom and board of directors into the athletic arena; a loyal Husky fan, he had the ability to attend the 2013 Orange Bowl with Governor Pat Quinn; and

WHEREAS, It is a testament to Scott Reimers commitment as a public servant that, over the years, many of his colleagues and members of the legislature have become his closest friends; and

WHEREAS, Scott Reimers is a diehard Chicago White Sox fan who was able to see his team win the World Series in 2005, thanks to his friend and colleague, Illinois State Representative JoAnn Osmond; and

WHEREAS, Scott Reimers is a loving husband and father whose greatest joys in life are his wife, Lori, and his children, Sophie and Andrew; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate and thank Scott Reimers for his years of exceptional public service and for his induction into the Samuel K. Gove Illinois Legislative Internship Hall of Fame; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Scott Reimers as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
