HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Barbara Taylor on the occasion of her retirement from the Young Men's Christian Association, after 29 years of service; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Taylor started her career in Michigan where she grew up and attended college; she began with the Michigan YMCA, in the field of childcare, from 1985 to 1994; she became the Midwest regional lead for childcare and represented the Midwest states, including Illinois, to the Y of the USA; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Taylor was recognized as a leader and was hired at the Y of USA located in Chicago; she worked with the Y of USA from 1994 to 2006; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Taylor worked for the Metro Chicago Y as the Vice-President of Programs for from October 31, 2006 through 2008; she implemented some of the best practices concerning programing during her tenure as Vice-President; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Taylor began working for her local Y, the Indian Boundary YMCA, which is a branch of the Metro Chicago Y, and worked there from September 5, 2008 to December of 2013; she was instrumental in growing the productivity of the farmers market in Downers Grove, instituting healthy options for youth and adults in the Y, and obtaining grand support from local businesses; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Taylor exhibits the 4 core character values of the YMCA: honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility; she has continued to offer her services as a volunteer upon her retirement; and

WHEREAS, Barbara Taylor's retirement became official on December 20, 2013; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Barbara Taylor on her retirement from the Young Men's Christian Association after 29 years of service; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Barbara Taylor as an expression of our esteem and respect.
