HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate St. Anne School in Dixon on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of its founding; and

WHEREAS, St. Anne School was founded on August 31, 1964 with an initial enrollment of 125 students and a staff of 3 Sisters of Notre Dame and one lay teacher; and

WHEREAS, Throughout the years, St. Anne School's facilities and library have been expanded to accommodate the growth of the student body; a preschool was added in 2004, boosting its already impressive enrollment numbers; and

WHEREAS, St. Anne School is recognized as a valuable community asset and has gained a prestigious reputation; students participate in community initiatives such as toy drives and food banks, as well as housing initiatives in Hati; students annually compete in the national spelling bee and national geographic contests; and

WHEREAS, St. Anne School is looking to become more involved in and develop relationships with surrounding parishes in Polo and Oregon that do not have access to Catholic education; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the administrators, teachers, and students of St. Anne School on its 50th anniversary and we wish them many more years of success; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to St. Anne School as an expression of our esteem and respect.
