HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Gregory L. Wright on the occasion of his retirement from his position as Superintendent of the Posen-Robbins School District; and

WHEREAS, Gregory Wright was born in Chicago to Paul and Jeanette Wright; he graduated from Eisenhower High School in Blue Island in 1970; he earned his bachelor's degree from Wisconsin State University in 1975, his Master of Arts in secondary education from Governors State University in 1988, and his Master of Science in Education Administration in 1991, also from Governors State University; he received his certificate of Advanced Study with a Superintendent's endorsement from Loyola University in 1994; and

WHEREAS, Gregory Wright began his career in 1976 at Eisenhower High School as a physical education/health and history teacher, where he doubled as a coach in football and wrestling from 1976 to 1992; in 1992, he was promoted to Assistant Principal and Athletic Director at Eisenhower High School; in 1994, he worked as Interim Superintendent for Hazel Crest School District 152 1/2 and then as Assistant Principal at the Keller School with the Posen-Robbins School District; and

WHEREAS, Gregory Wright married Joann Drake on July 26, 1980 and they had 3 children, David and Terrence in 1981, and Lynnette in 1987; and

WHEREAS, In 1995, Gregory Wright founded a successful temporary employment agency; he re-entered the education field in 2001 and became the Superintendent of the Posen-Robbins School District and steered it through a period of continued progress; and

WHEREAS, Gregory Wright, along with his family, are faithful members of New Faith Baptist Church International in Matteson; he served as a trustee for the Village of Robbins from 1998 to 2007 and on the Posen-Robbins Board of Education for 16 years, 8 of those as Board President; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Gregory L. Wright on his retirement as Superintendent of the Posen-Robbins School District, and wish him the best in all his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Gregory Wright as an expression of our esteem and respect.
