HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the Mother McAuley High School volleyball team, the Mighty Macs, on winning the 2014 Illinois High School Association Class 4A State championship; and

WHEREAS, The Mighty Macs captured their record 14th girls' volleyball State title with a 25-22 and 25-19 victory against 2-time defending champs, Benet Academy, at Redbird Arena in Normal; and

WHEREAS, In the 2013-2014 season, the Mighty Macs compiled an impressive record of 40 wins and 2 losses, with no losses to any other Illinois-based team and winning the last 17 consecutive matches; and

WHEREAS, The Mighty Macs have a storied history with 9 State titles from 1984 to 2004; and

WHEREAS, This is the Mighty Macs' first title under head coach, Jen DeJarld, and assistant coach, Meg Gardner; and

WHEREAS, The Might Macs are Kennedy Arundel, Jenny Phelan, Ryann DeJarld, Mallory Maxwell, Carla Cahill, Amber Casey, Courtney Joyce, Maggie Scanlon, Caeley Hynes, Claire Martin, Lauren Carlson, Maddie Meyer, Kayla Caffey, Kelsey Clark, Molly Geary, and Gabrielle Ennis; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Mother McAuley High School volleyball team, the Mighty Macs, on winning the 2014 Illinois High School Association Class 4A State championship; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Mother McAuley High School volleyball team as an expression of our esteem and respect.
