HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The State of Illinois recognizes the significant
3impact of its spiritual leaders and pays particular honor to
4its native born sons; and
 
5    WHEREAS, The State of Illinois values the contribution of
6such individuals and extols the virtue of them as a means of
7communicating its honor of such citizens as role models for
8all; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Rabbi Daniel Moscowitz, of blessed memory, was
10born and raised in Illinois and returned home to direct the
11operation of and oversee the expansion of the activities of
12Lubavitch Chabad of Illinois, the regional headquarters of the
13worldwide Lubavitch movement; he subsequently expanded the
14movement from a single office in Chicago into 40 centers of
15goodness and kindness spanning the State from Carbondale to
16Gurnee; and
 
17    WHEREAS, The importance of leadership and devotion to home
18and community are primary values we cherish and uphold; these
19values were embodied in Rabbi Moscowitz; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Rabbi Moscowitz was beloved by an entire community
21across the State and across all denominational factions; and

1    WHEREAS, Rabbi Daniel Moscowitz is survived by his wife,
2Esther Rochel; his children, Mrs. Shterna Sara Newman, Rabbi
3Meir Shimon Moscowitz, Rabbi Yosef Shmuel Moscowitz, Rabbi
4Yehoshua Zelik Moscowitz, Mrs. Rivkah Sternberg, Mrs. Chana
5Teldon, Mrs. Chava Kagan, Rabbi Leibel Moscowitz, and Mrs.
6Chaya Mushka Hecht; his parents; and his brothers, Rabbi Moshe
7Moscowitz, Eli Moscowitz, and Rabbi Mendel Moscowitz;
8therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
10NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of
12Rabbi Daniel Moscowitz; and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That we designate April 9, 2014 as "Kindness and
14Goodness Day" in the State of Illinois in honor of Rabbi
15Moscowitz and his work; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the Lubavitch-Chabad movement as a symbol of our
18respect and esteem.
