HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to recognize Kendall County Sheriff's Deputies Joseph Melchiori and Greg Shadle and Oswego Police Officers Michael Torrance, Steven Lawrence, and Justin Pan for their heroic act of rescuing a 2-year-old-boy from a retention pond on March 24, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Area deputies responded to a report of a missing 2-year-old-boy on Fernwood Road in unincorporated Montgomery; police from surrounding agencies conducted a search of the area and found the boy in a retention pond near his home; and

WHEREAS, Deputies Joseph Melchiori and Greg Shadle and Officers Michael Torrance, Steven Lawrence, and Justin Pan entered the frigid waters to recover the child; and

WHEREAS, Deputies Joseph Melchiori and Greg Shadle and Officers Michael Torrance, Steven Lawrence, and Justin Pan are true definitions of the police motto "to serve and protect"; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we wish to recognize Kendall County Sheriff's Deputies Joseph Melchiori and Greg Shadle and Oswego Police Officers Michael Torrance, Steven Lawrence, and Justin Pan for their heroic act of rescuing a 2-year-old-boy from a retention pond; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to Deputies Joseph Melchiori and Greg Shadle and Officers Michael Torrance, Steven Lawrence, and Justin Pan as an expression of our esteem and respect.
