305 ILCS 5/10-3.2  from Ch. 23, par. 10-3.2

    Amends the Illinois Public Aid Code. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning the Department of Public Aid and the federal Parent Locator Service.

1    AN ACT concerning public aid.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Illinois Public Aid Code is amended by
5changing Section 10-3.2 as follows:
 
6    (305 ILCS 5/10-3.2)  (from Ch. 23, par. 10-3.2)
7    Sec. 10-3.2. Parent Locator Service. The The Illinois
8Department through its Child and Spouse Support Unit shall
9enter into agreements with the Secretary of Health and Human
10Services or his designee under which the services of the
11federal Parent Locator Service established by the Social
12Security Act are made available to this State and the Illinois
13Department for the purpose of locating an absent parent or
14child when the child has been abducted or otherwise improperly
15removed or retained from the physical custody of a parent or
16other person entitled to custody of the child, or in connection
17with the making or enforcing of a child custody determination
18in custody proceedings instituted under the Uniform Child
19Custody Jurisdiction Act or the Uniform Child-Custody
20Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act, or otherwise in accordance
21with law. The Illinois Department shall provide general
22information to the public about the availability and use of the
23Parent Locator Service in relation to child abduction and

1custody determination proceedings, shall promptly respond to
2inquiries made by those parties specified by federal
3regulations upon receipt of information as to the location of
4an absent parent or child from the federal Parent Locator
5Service and shall maintain accurate records as to the number of
6such inquiries received and processed by the Department.
