SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of James Donald McLaughlin of McHenry, who
4passed away on May 30, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, James McLaughlin was born on September 25, 1931 in
6Chicago to George and Josephine (nee Pellage) McLaughlin; he
7was raised in Park Ridge, played on the Maine Township High
8School football team, and attended the University of Illinois
9at Urbana-Champaign, where he pledged the Sigma Chi fraternity;
10he served in the United States Army and married Joan Ellen on
11May 4, 1963 in Rockford; and
 
12    WHEREAS, James McLaughlin worked as a residential
13brokerage manager for Wm. L. Kunkel Realtors in Des Plaines;
14after retirement, he worked as a real estate sales
15representative for Baird & Warner in Arlington Heights until
162004; he was an associate director for the Northwest Board of
17Realtors, designated to the Council of Real Estate Brokerage
18Managers by the National Association of Realtors, and was a
19member of the Million Dollar Sales Club; he achieved numerous
20recognitions in real estate; and
 
21    WHEREAS, James McLaughlin taught a Home Buyers Clinic at
22District 214 High Schools; he worked as a judge of elections

1and as a precinct captain, on the Arlington Heights Festival,
2with Meals on Wheels and the Arlington Heights Youth Center,
3and coached youth baseball and softball; after moving to
4McHenry, he served on the Board of Legend Lakes Homeowners
5Association; and
 
6    WHEREAS, James McLaughlin enjoyed traveling, skiing,
7gardening, and sailing from the Chicago Yacht Club, including
8several Chicago-Mackinac races; and
 
9    WHEREAS, James McLaughlin is survived by his wife, Joan;
10children, Michael James McLaughlin and Amy (Marty) Maciaszek;
11grandchildren, Carolann and Colin McLaughlin and Dillon,
12Margaret, Ellen, and Kira Maciaszek; brother, George J. (Tiia)
13McLaughlin, Jr.; sister-in-law, Nancy (Keith) Hyzer; numerous
14nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his Shetland sheep dog,
15Annie; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18James Donald McLaughlin, and extend our sincere condolences to
19his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
20further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to the family of James McLaughlin as an expression of
