SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Kimberly Joy Nichols of Crystal Lake, who passed away on July 19, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Kimberly Nichols was born on June 28, 1975 in Park Ridge; her parents were Jack and Mary Nichols; and

WHEREAS, Kimberly Nichols enjoyed enriching the lives of young children and the elderly, volunteering, board games with loved ones, shopping, and movies; and

WHEREAS, Kimberly Nichols was honored to be selected as the ribbon cutter at the grand opening of the Ronald McDonald House in Tucson, Arizona; she was also the recipient of the J.C. Penney Golden Rule award for her volunteerism; and

WHEREAS, Kimberly Nichols was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Harley and Geraldine Nichols; her maternal grandfather, Norval Thorud; and her godfather and uncle, Terry Thorud; and

WHEREAS, Kimberly Nichols is survived by her parents; 3 siblings, Barbara Treacy, Debra (Mike) Karakourtis, and Thomas H. (Jamie) Nichols; her maternal grandmother, Ardelle Thorud; 5 nieces and nephews, Joe, Emily, Mike, Ellie, and Cameron; her goddaughter and niece, Claire; her beloved puppy, Henry; and her many aunts, uncles, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Kimberly Joy Nichols; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Kimberly Nichols as an expression of our sympathy.
