SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John Thomas Beam of Johnsburg, who passed away on October 3, 2014; and

WHEREAS, John Beam was born in Canton on November 23, 1941 to Howard and Vera (nee Schoneman) Beam; he married Suzanne Stiglish in Bryant on October 24, 1964; he served in the United States Navy and attended the University of Illinois, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering; and

WHEREAS, John Beam began his career with Baxter & Woodman Consulting Engineers in 1969, and, in the early 1980s, he opened his own engineering firm, Beam Engineering; and

WHEREAS, John Beam was an avid golfer and enjoyed golfing at Chapel Hill Country Club; he also enjoyed muskie fishing in northern Wisconsin and Canada; and

WHEREAS, John Beam was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, John Beam is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Suzanne; 3 children, Jennifer (John) O'Connor, Howard Beam, and Jesse (Shyla) Beam; 2 grandchildren, Joslyn Beam and John Martin Beam; 2 brothers, Howard (Peggy) Beam and Gerald (Pat) Beam; and a sister, Judy (Jerry) Yocum; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of John Thomas Beam, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John Beam as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
