SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Dolores M. "Grandma Doe" McMillan of
4Williamsville, who passed away on November 2, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dolores McMillan was born in Auburn on May 27,
61923 to Stanley and Matilda (nee Maggs) Patrilla; she attended
7Auburn schools and moved to Springfield after graduation; she
8married Charles "Bub" McMillan on November 12, 1943 in Auburn;
9and
 
10    WHEREAS, Dolores McMillan first worked as a bookkeeper for
11Aunt Hannah's Baby Shop; she and her husband began farming in
12Divernon before settling in Williamsville in 1959; she also
13worked as a teller at Elkhart Bank for many years; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Dolores McMillan was an active member of the
15Williamsville United Methodist Church; she was an avid Scrabble
16player and enjoyed ceramics and acrylics; she liked tending to
17her flower-laden garden, baking chocolate chip cookies, and
18being the seamstress for her grandchildren's Halloween
19costumes; she was a member of 2 card clubs and played pinochle
20for many years; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Dolores McMillan was preceded in death by her

1husband of 47 years, Charles; her daughter, Linda (Tom) Lysen;
2her parents; and her sister, Isabelle (John) Mason; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Dolores McMillan is survived by her children,
4Sharon (Patsy Cowsert) McMillan, Donald "Chuck" (Sue)
5McMillan, and Carol (Harvey) Garecht; her grandchildren, Sarah
6McMillan, Nicole (Richard) Sandidge, and Megan, Charles, and
7Holly Garecht; her great-grandchildren, Lexi Reid, Chloe and
8Madi Sandidge, and Sebastian "SJ" Casson; her brother, Stanley
9"Mannie" (Barbara) Patrilla; her sister-in-law, Joan McMillan;
10her brother-in-law, John (Bonnie) McMillan; and many nieces,
11nephews, cousins, and friends; therefore, be it
 
12    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
13ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
14Dolores M. "Grandma Doe" McMillan, and extend our sincere
15condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
16her; and be it further
 
17    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18presented to the family of Dolores McMillan as an expression of
19our deepest sympathy.
