SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Cecil Bradley Hockett, Sr., who passed
4away on October 26, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Cecil Hockett, Sr. was born on June 19, 1924; his
6parents were Ernest and Susie Hockett; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Cecil Hockett, Sr. served his country with pride
8as a member of the United States Army; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Cecil Hockett, Sr. retired from the Chicago Police
10Department at the rank of sergeant after many years of service;
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, Cecil Hockett, Sr. was a lifelong Christian; he
13served in the Holy Name of Mary Church Choir, the Men's Club,
14and other outreach ministries; he also served his community
15through the Guardian Police Organization, the Knights of St.
16Peter Claver, St. Vincent DePaul, and many other charitable and
17civic organizations; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Cecil Hockett, Sr. was an avid golfer and
19travelled all over the country displaying his talents; he was a
20dedicated bowler and served as president of his bowling league;

1he also enjoyed drawing and the culinary arts, among other
2hobbies; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Cecil Hockett, Sr. was preceded in death by his
4parents, Ernest and Susie Hockett; his children, Cecil and
5Carla Hockett; and his sisters, Anna Clark, Ernestine Hockett,
6and Julia Hockett; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Cecil Hockett, Sr. is survived by his wife,
8Dolores M. Hockett; his children, Marcus Hockett, Carter
9(Crystal) Russell, Jr., Terrie Russell, Carlotta Brown, Carl
10(Kimberly) Russell, Tanya Russell, Clifford (Pepper) Russell,
11Courtney Russell, Sr., Theresa Russell, and LaDonna Collins;
12his brother, Richard L. Hockett; and his many grandchildren,
13great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends;
14therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
17family and friends, mourn the passing of Cecil Bradley Hockett,
18Sr.; and be it further
 
19    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
20presented to the family of Cecil Hockett, Sr. as an expression
21of our sympathy.
