SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of John Edward Rednour, Sr., former mayor of
4Du Quoin, who passed away on December 1, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Rednour, Sr. was born on December 20, 1934 in
6Percy to Ora Earl "Job" and Margaret (nee Masters) Rednour; he
7married Wanda Lou Hepp on October 11, 1952 in Pocahontas,
8Arkansas; and
 
9    WHEREAS, John Rednour, Sr. started his career as an
10ironworker before he founded his own business, Rednour Steel,
11in Cutler; he also had ownership in the newspaper, CaterVend in
12Du Quoin, in Air Illinois Airlines, in R and H Steel Erectors,
13and in Du Quoin State Bank; and
 
14    WHEREAS, John Rednour, Sr. served as mayor of Du Quoin from
151989 to 2013; he was very active in politics and also served as
16Perry County Commissioner, Chairman of the State of Illinois
17Democratic Party, Chairman and member of the Illinois State
18Police Merit Board, and as a top ranking delegate for the
19Democratic National Committee for more than 30 years; and
 
20    WHEREAS, John Rednour, Sr. enjoyed traveling throughout
21the world and was always ready to take a vacation with family

1and friends; he was a Shriner and a member of the Trico School
2Board; and
 
3    WHEREAS, John Rednour, Sr. was preceded in death by his
4parents, and by his brother, Clifford Rednour; and
 
5    WHEREAS, John Rednour, Sr. is survived by his wife of 61
6years, Wanda; his daughters, Kathy (Jim) Campanella and Janice
7(Kevin) Pyle; his son, John (Laurie) Rednour, Jr.; his
8grandchildren, Jordan, Calen, Jill (Jason) VanZandt, Holden,
9Lauren (Daniel) Cashion, and John Rednour, III; his
10great-grandchildren, Drayke, Karah, and Mallory Cashion and
11Jaxon, Jameson, and Jake VanZandt; his brother, Frank
12(Virginia) Burke; his brothers-in-law, Frank Hepp, Dennis
13Hepp, and Larry Hepp; his sister-in-law, Minta Hepp; and many
14nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
15    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
16ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
17John Edward Rednour, Sr., and extend our sincere condolences to
18his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
19further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy this resolution be presented
21to the family of John Rednour, Sr. as an expression of our
22deepest sympathy.
