SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John Edward Rednour, Sr., former mayor of Du Quoin, who passed away on December 1, 2013; and

WHEREAS, John Rednour, Sr. was born on December 20, 1934 in Percy to Ora Earl "Job" and Margaret (nee Masters) Rednour; he married Wanda Lou Hepp on October 11, 1952 in Pocahontas, Arkansas; and

WHEREAS, John Rednour, Sr. started his career as an ironworker before he founded his own business, Rednour Steel, in Cutler; he also had ownership in the newspaper, CaterVend in Du Quoin, in Air Illinois Airlines, in R and H Steel Erectors, and in Du Quoin State Bank; and

WHEREAS, John Rednour, Sr. served as mayor of Du Quoin from 1989 to 2013; he was very active in politics and also served as Perry County Commissioner, Chairman of the State of Illinois Democratic Party, Chairman and member of the Illinois State Police Merit Board, and as a top ranking delegate for the Democratic National Committee for more than 30 years; and

WHEREAS, John Rednour, Sr. enjoyed traveling throughout the world and was always ready to take a vacation with family and friends; he was a Shriner and a member of the Trico School Board; and

WHEREAS, John Rednour, Sr. was preceded in death by his parents, and by his brother, Clifford Rednour; and

WHEREAS, John Rednour, Sr. is survived by his wife of 61 years, Wanda; his daughters, Kathy (Jim) Campanella and Janice (Kevin) Pyle; his son, John (Laurie) Rednour, Jr.; his grandchildren, Jordan, Calen, Jill (Jason) VanZandt, Holden, Lauren (Daniel) Cashion, and John Rednour, III; his great-grandchildren, Drayke, Karah, and Mallory Cashion and Jaxon, Jameson, and Jake VanZandt; his brother, Frank (Virginia) Burke; his brothers-in-law, Frank Hepp, Dennis Hepp, and Larry Hepp; his sister-in-law, Minta Hepp; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of John Edward Rednour, Sr., and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy this resolution be presented to the family of John Rednour, Sr. as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
