SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Pastor B.G. Nevitt of Decatur, who passed away on August 17, 2013; and

WHEREAS, B.G. Nevitt was born April 19, 1958 in Moline; he was the son of Robert and Nelda Nevitt; he married Brenda K. Hoover on March 12, 1977, and had 2 daughters, Amy and Missie; and

WHEREAS, B.G. Nevitt served as a pastor in Jacksonville and Grayslake; in 1991, he and his family moved to Decatur to become the lead pastor at GT Church, where he served faithfully for 22 years; he was passionate about his GT family and reaching out to his community; one of his favorite days was The Blessing of the Bikes, where he got to minister to hundreds of bikers; and

WHEREAS, B.G. Nevitt served as a chaplain for the Decatur Police Department; he subsequently became an auxiliary officer and was promoted to the rank of sergeant; and

WHEREAS, B.G. Nevitt enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and helping those in need; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Pastor B.G. Nevitt; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of B.G. Nevitt as an expression of our sympathy.
