SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Shirley Helen Rasmussen-Heisler of
4Woodstock, who passed away on December 21, 2013; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Shirley Rasmussen-Heisler was born on March 5,
61925 in Waukegan to Carl and Lucille (nee Barkoske) Rasmussen;
7she spent her early years in Waukegan and then moved with her
8family to Libertyville and eventually Crystal Lake; she
9graduated from Crystal Lake High School in 1943 and from
10Northern Illinois State Teachers College in 1949, with a degree
11in teaching physical education, and while there, worked for a
12year at McDonald Douglas Aircraft as a "Rosie the Riveter"; she
13married Richard G. Heisler in Woodstock on August 19, 1950; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Shirley Rasmussen-Heisler began her career by
15teaching physical education at St. Charles High School; she
16then taught for 2 years at St. Mary's High School in Woodstock;
17in 1962, she began teaching at Woodstock High School and
18remained there until her retirement in 1978; and
 
19    WHEREAS, After retirement, Shirley Rasmussen-Heisler and
20her husband founded the Woodchucks Camping Club and traveled
21all over the United States in their camper; she was a member of
22St. Ann's Episcopal Church in Woodstock for over 50 years; and

1    WHEREAS, Shirley Rasmussen-Heisler was preceded in death
2by her husband, Richard; her parents; her sister, Jean (Albert)
3Albertsen; and her in-laws, Jacob and Grace; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Shirley Rasmussen-Heisler is survived by her
5daughter, Judy Wett; her son, Wade (Debra) Heisler; her
6grandchildren, Jillian (Michael) Nazarof, J.J. (Sheena Dravis)
7Wett, Kristin (Benson) Sanford, Kimberly (Mark) Kunkle, and
8Kelly Heisler; her great-grandson, Jonathan Nazarof; her
9siblings, Carlyle (Marjorie) Rasmussen, RuthAnne (Clem)
10Marley, Jack (Jane) Rasmussen, Janet (Eugene) Gulgren, Pat
11(Jack) Frothingham, and Kay (Edward) Lutz; and many nieces and
12nephews; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Shirley Helen Rasmussen-Heisler, and extend our sincere
16condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
17her; and be it further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Shirley Rasmussen-Heisler as an
20expression of our deepest sympathy.
