SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Marian L. Engstrom of Woodstock, who passed away on January 4, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Marian Engstrom was born October 30, 1923 in Rapid City, South Dakota; she married Howard J. Engstrom on November 15, 1945 in Rapid City; and

WHEREAS, Marian Engstrom was an active member in her community; she served as a hospice volunteer, put on charity vintage fashion shows, assisted at the Woodstock Opera House, and helped out at PADS homeless shelter; her entrepreneurial spirit also led her to create 2 catering businesses and an antique shop; and

WHEREAS, Marian Engstrom was an active member of the Evangelical Free Church and taught Sunday school and led women's Bible study groups at the church; and

WHEREAS, Marian Engstrom enjoyed reading, writing poetry, studying genealogy, taking nature walks, gardening, interior decorating, picking berries, sitting in the sun, and traveling with her husband around the world; and

WHEREAS, Marian Engstrom was preceded in death by her son, Mark; and

WHEREAS, Marian Engstrom is survived by her husband, Howard; her daughters, Janice (Jonathan) Cornforth and Sherryl (Ken) Somerville; her daughter-in-law, Alma Huete; her brother, Donald Holsten; her sisters, Helen Nordenson and Doris Hovland; and her grandchildren, Lauren, Anthony, Aaron, Luke, and Tabitha; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Marian L. Engstrom; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Marian Engstrom as an expression of our sympathy.
