SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Marian L. Engstrom of Woodstock, who
4passed away on January 4, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Marian Engstrom was born October 30, 1923 in Rapid
6City, South Dakota; she married Howard J. Engstrom on November
715, 1945 in Rapid City; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Marian Engstrom was an active member in her
9community; she served as a hospice volunteer, put on charity
10vintage fashion shows, assisted at the Woodstock Opera House,
11and helped out at PADS homeless shelter; her entrepreneurial
12spirit also led her to create 2 catering businesses and an
13antique shop; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Marian Engstrom was an active member of the
15Evangelical Free Church and taught Sunday school and led
16women's Bible study groups at the church; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Marian Engstrom enjoyed reading, writing poetry,
18studying genealogy, taking nature walks, gardening, interior
19decorating, picking berries, sitting in the sun, and traveling
20with her husband around the world; and

1    WHEREAS, Marian Engstrom was preceded in death by her son,
2Mark; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Marian Engstrom is survived by her husband,
4Howard; her daughters, Janice (Jonathan) Cornforth and Sherryl
5(Ken) Somerville; her daughter-in-law, Alma Huete; her
6brother, Donald Holsten; her sisters, Helen Nordenson and Doris
7Hovland; and her grandchildren, Lauren, Anthony, Aaron, Luke,
8and Tabitha; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
11family and friends, mourn the passing of Marian L. Engstrom;
12and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Marian Engstrom as an expression of
15our sympathy.
