SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Leonard D. Sosinski of Woodstock, who passed away on January 20, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Leonard Sosinski was born in Bronson, Michigan on October 10, 1915; he served his country in the United States Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1945; he married Marie Francis Bonacci on February 6, 1943; and

WHEREAS, Following his service in the war, he studied nursing and worked as a nurse anesthetist until retiring from McHenry Hospital at the age of 65 in 1980; and

WHEREAS, Leonard Sosinski was honored in 2013 for his service as a Pearl Harbor first responder; and

WHEREAS, Leonard Sosinski was an avid gardener and, following retirement, turned his hobby into his livelihood by planting an orchard and growing produce and pumpkins; he was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Hartland in Woodstock where he served as Eucharistic Minister; he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus #634 Starve Rock Council in Ottawa; and

WHEREAS, Leonard Sosinski and his wife, Marie, had 11 children, Christine (Robert) Lane, Michael (Cindy) Sosinski, Rose (Dale) Magness, Mary (Mark) Fuller, Leonard (Jan) Sosinski, Dr. Elizabeth (Val Podkowirow) Sosinski, Daniel Sosinski, Jean Ann Doyle, Elaine (Michael) Byra, Carol (Mark) Bitto, and William Sosinski; 29 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Leonard D. Sosinski, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Leonard Sosinski as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
