SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Sandra Mary "Sandy" Rapp of Peoria, who passed away on January 24, 2020; and

WHEREAS, Sandy Rapp was born in Kinsman to Louis and Loisanne O'Connell on September 9, 1958; she learned the value of hard work on the family farm, while excelling in school; she earned a nursing degree at St. Francis College of Nursing in 1980; she married Emerson Rapp Jr. in 1982; and

WHEREAS, Sandy Rapp worked as an Emergency Room Nurse at St. Francis and Proctor Hospitals, as an organ donation coordinator at Red Cross, and as a mental health advocate at OSF; she helped save hundreds of lives in Central Illinois over the course of her career; and

WHEREAS, Sandy Rapp is remembered for living life to the fullest; she enjoyed vacationing with family, reading, crafting with her grandchildren, and anything related to Irish music, food, or art; she also relished sister reunions to Chicago and the theater; and

WHEREAS, Sandy Rapp was preceded in death by her father, Louis O'Connell; and

WHEREAS, Sandy Rapp is survived by her husband, Emerson Rapp Jr.; her daughter, D'Arcy (Eric) Haeusser; her son, Emerson (Briana) Rapp III; her brothers, Daniel O'Connell, Kevin (LaDonna) O'Connell, and Paul (Kathleen) O'Connell; her sisters, Connie (Steve) Vaughn and Kelly (Gerry) Johnson; her mother, Loisanne O'Connell; and her grandchildren, Leah, Benedict, Lillian, Eleanor, Louisa, Alexandra, David, and Adele; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Sandra Mary "Sandy" Rapp and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Sandy Rapp as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
