SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Nancy Carol Schlacks, who passed away on August 8, 2020 at the age of 81; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Schlacks was born to Florence and Joseph Madigan on December 15, 1938; she graduated from Trinity High School in 1956 and from St. Mary's College of Notre Dame in 1960; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Schlacks served as an on-call chaplain at West Suburban Hospital for fourteen years; she and her husband Paul were founding members of the St. Giles Family Mass community; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Schlacks loved to spend time with her family and with friends; she enjoyed spending time in her home in Palisades Park in Covert, Michigan; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Schlacks was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Bette (Eugene) Morris and Joseph "J.D." (Carol) Madigan Jr.; and

WHEREAS, Nancy Schlacks is survived by her husband of 58 years, H. Paul Schlacks; her children, Erin (Tony) Evans, Howard "Howie" (Meegan), Julie (Chris) Schlacks-Duff, and Peter and Andrew Schlacks; her grandchildren, Liam Campbell, Emily, Sarah, Maggie, and Nora Schlacks, Charlie Duff, and Lucy Schlacks; and her many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Nancy Carol Schlacks and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Nancy Schlacks as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
