SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
225 ILCS 225/5  from Ch. 111 1/2, par. 116.305

    Amends the Private Sewage Disposal Licensing Act. Allows veterans of the United States Armed Forces who have been discharged under honorable conditions to pay 50% of the licensing and examination fees determined by the Department of Public Health to be issued a private sewage system installation contractor license or a private sewage disposal system pumping contractor license. The applicant's veteran status can be verified using his or her DD-214 form.

1    AN ACT concerning regulation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Private Sewage Disposal Licensing Act is
5amended by changing Section 5 as follows:
 
6    (225 ILCS 225/5)  (from Ch. 111 1/2, par. 116.305)
7    Sec. 5. (a) The Director shall issue a private sewage
8system installation contractor license or a private sewage
9disposal system pumping contractor license to persons applying
10for such license who successfully pass a written examination
11prepared by the Department and who pay the required annual
12license fee in an amount determined by the Department. Each
13person who holds a currently valid plumbing license issued
14under the "Illinois Plumbing License Law", as now or hereafter
15amended, shall not be required to pay the annual license fee
16required by this Section, but such licensed person shall comply
17with all other provisions of this Act, including the
18requirement for examination for licensure.
19    (b) A license issued under this Act shall expire on
20December 31 of the year issued, except that an original license
21issued after October 1 and before December 31 shall expire on
22December 31 of the following year.
23    The Department shall reinstate a license which expires

1while a licensee is in the active military service of the
2United States upon application to the Department by the former
3licensee within 2 years after termination of such military
4service, payment of the annual license fee and submission of
5evidence of such military service. Such license shall be
6reinstated without examination and without payment of the
7reinstatement fee.
8    (c) A private sewage disposal system pumping contractor or
9a private sewage system installation contractor whose license
10has expired for a period of less than 3 years may apply to the
11Department for reinstatement of his license. The Department
12shall issue such renewed license provided the applicant pays to
13the Department all lapsed license fees, plus a reinstatement
14fee determined by the Department. A license which has expired
15for more than 3 years may be restored only by reapplying to
16take the examination and by successfully passing the written
17examination.
18    (d) A veteran of the United States Armed Forces who has
19been discharged under honorable conditions shall pay 50% of the
20written examination and annual license fees determined by the
21Department to be issued a private sewage system installation
22contractor license or a private sewage disposal system pumping
23contractor license. The applicant's veteran status can be
24verified using his or her DD-214 form.
