HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Hannah Thompson on being named State Champion in Radio Speaking; and

WHEREAS, Hannah Thompson is a senior at Downers Grove North High school; she competed in Radio Speaking, in which a student is given a packet of news stories and must create a five minute news broadcast; students who compete in radio are in a soundproof room separate from judges; they are judged on delivery, voice, clarity, and articulation; and

WHEREAS, Hannah Thompson is a drum major for the marching band; she plays clarinet in the Wind Ensemble and Pit Orchestra; she is in varsity scholastic bowl, a member of the gay/straight alliance (PRISM), a fine arts aide, and a former health class aide; she is on the math team and is in National Honor Society; she played badminton her freshman and sophomore years; and

WHEREAS, Hannah Thompson is planning on studying biomedical engineering in college; she is the daughter of Andrew and Julie Thompson of Downers Grove; and

WHEREAS, February 22, 2016 was Hannah Thompson Day at Downers Grove North High School; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Hannah Thompson on being named State Champion in Radio Speaking and we wish her many more successful years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Hannah Thompson as an expression of our esteem and respect.
