HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Arthur O. Kane on the occasion of his 98th birthday; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Kane was born on January 17, 1918; he graduated from the University of Chicago in 1936 and from the University of Chicago Law School in 1939; he served in the United States Army during World War II; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Kane started his career by practicing law with his father, Henry Kane; he founded and built the top workers' compensation defense firm in the State of Illinois, Kane, Doy and Harrington, which was often referred to as the "1927 New York Yankees of Workers' Compensation Law"; he donated the Arthur O. Kane Center for Legal Education and Clinic to the University of Chicago Law School; and

WHEREAS, Arthur Kane and his wife, Esther, donated the "Esther & Arthur O. Kane Outpatient Clinic" at the Chicago Rehabilitation Institute; and

WHEREAS, Most recently, Arthur Kane established the Arthur O. Kane Chair in Constitutional Law at the University of Chicago Law School; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Arthur O. Kane on the occasion of his 98th birthday and we wish him many more wonderful years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Arthur Kane as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
