HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Sondra
4Lea Hecox of St. Charles, who passed away on March 19, 2016;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Sondra Hecox was born in Clarion, Iowa to Irvin
7and Freda Harmon on August 28, 1936; she attended Iowa State
8University in Ames, Iowa and the American Business Institute;
9she married Dale Hecox on June 7, 1956; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Sondra Hecox worked for the City of Iowa City,
11Iowa until her husband completed his education; they then moved
12to Oak Park, where she worked as Director of Personnel for the
13Sunbeam Corporation; she kept that position until her first
14daughter was born, at which time she became a full-time
15homemaker and moved to Elmhurst; she and her family moved to
16St. Charles in 1988; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Sondra Hecox loved the Republican Party, and she
18and her husband came to represent all that was best about the
19Grand Old Party; Senators, Congressmen, and political leaders
20all sought her counsel and approval; she was a tireless
21Republican advocate and volunteer; and

1    WHEREAS, Sondra Hecox was a precinct committeewoman for
2years in St. Charles; she walked her precinct and other
3precincts, making sure everyone knew about Republican
4candidates; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Sondra Hecox was involved in practically
6everything related to the Kane County Republican Party; she
7organized every event from the booth at the county fair to
8fundraising events to staffing the office; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Sondra Hecox and her husband were awarded
10President George W. Bush's Crystal Award in 2004 for their
11volunteer efforts in Kane County; she was also voted the Kane
12County Republican of the Year in 2004; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Sondra Hecox and her husband were honored with a
14Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012 from the Kane County
15Republican Party; she volunteered in many election campaigns on
16the federal, State, and county level, and her enthusiasm
17engaged everyone who knew her; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Sondra Hecox loved gardening and landscaping; she
19was a member of the Pottawatomie Garden Club, participating in
20their shows and events; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Sondra Hecox is survived by her loving husband,

1Dale; her two daughters, Sharon Grether and Susan Sherman; one
2granddaughter; and three grandsons; therefore, be it
 
3    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
4NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
5mourn the passing of Sondra Lea Hecox, and extend our sincere
6condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
7her; and be it further
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
9presented to the family of Sondra Hecox as an expression of our
10deepest sympathy.
