HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to recognize the 125th anniversary of the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) Branch 219 Aurora; and

WHEREAS, NALC Branch 219 was founded on May 6, 1891 with just 10 members and has grown to represent over 245 members from Aurora, Montgomery, Yorkville, and Plano; and

WHEREAS, The members of NALC Branch 219 are devoted members of their community; every second Saturday in May since 1992, members of NALC Branch 219, as well as letter carriers nationwide take part in the Stamp Out Hunger food drive; in more than 10,000 cities and towns across the country non-perishable food donations are collected and delivered to community food banks, pantries, and shelters; in the last 15 years, more than $20 million dollars and one billion pounds of food have been collected by letter carriers; and

WHEREAS, Since 1952, the Muscular Dystrophy Association has been the national charity of the NALC; and

WHEREAS, The NALC was founded in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1889 and is the sole representative of city delivery letter carriers employed by the United States Postal Service; members are also members of the AFL-CIO; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize the 125th anniversary of the National Association of Letter Carriers Branch 219 Aurora and we wish them many more successful years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to NALC Branch 219 as an expression of our esteem and respect.
