HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to recognize John Strugala as he prepares to march in the American Veterans Center's National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, D.C. on May 30, 2016; and

WHEREAS, 25 years ago, U.S. Army Specialist John Strugala of Spring Valley, was one of over 600,000 service members who took part in Operation Desert Storm; he left friends and family behind to serve the nation and secure a victory for freedom; and

WHEREAS, John Strugala enlisted in 1988, serving with C Battery, 3/82 Field Artillery, 1st Cavalry; he retired as a Staff Sergeant in April of 2008 after 20 years of service; he spent his whole military career as a firefighter; and

WHEREAS, As the 25th anniversary approaches, John Strugala and more than 500 other Operation Desert Storm veterans have been invited to reunite and march in the National Memorial Day Parade; and

WHEREAS, John Strugala is married to Renee, and they have three kids, Raimey Heinze, Kyle Vogel, and Kierra Vogel; and

WHEREAS, John Strugala and other veterans are marching to teach Americans about the service and sacrifice made by all veterans of Operation Desert Storm; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize John Strugala as he prepares to march in the American Veterans Center's National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, D.C. on May 30, 2016; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to John Strugala as an expression of our esteem and respect.
