HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to recognize Matt McLemore for his many contributions to the City of Taylorville and its surrounding communities; and

WHEREAS, Matt McLemore was born in 1955 in Decatur; he graduated from Blue Mound High School in 1973; and

WHEREAS, Shortly after graduation, Matt McLemore moved to California, where he took speech classes at Pasadena City College and became a graduate of the L.A. Broadcasters School; and

WHEREAS, Matt McLemore came back to his home state to begin working as the news director for WTIM 96.3 FM and 870 AM in 1990; and

WHEREAS, In 1992, Matt McLemore assumed the role of host of the WTIM Morning Show, steadfastly waking up at 4 AM and arriving at the radio station by 5 AM every weekday; and

WHEREAS, As host of the WTIM Morning Show, Matt McLemore has conducted thousands of local interviews, Swap Shop programs, Open Line discussions, and remotes, as well as anchoring election night coverage for the station; and

WHEREAS, Matt McLemore has been heard on the entire Taylorville cluster of Miller Media Group radio stations; and

WHEREAS, Matt McLemore often brings a note of levity to his programs, from telling amusing stories to calling listeners pet names, such as the "Volks Folks" or referring to a group of area women as the "lovely and talented ladies at Taylorville Memorial Hospital"; and

WHEREAS, Listeners say that Matt McLemore always does a great job helping them start the day on a positive note; and

WHEREAS, Matt McLemore has been with WTIM in Taylorville for 25 years and is now retiring; he is being honored with "Matt McLemore Day" on April 2, 2015 on Taylorville's WTIM, marking his last day with the company; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize Matt McLemore for his daily contributions to the community of Taylorville and its surrounding communities and wish him further success and fulfilment in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Matt McLemore as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
