1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, Dixie's Cup Cafe in Pinckneyville was established
3 in the early 1900s and, through its different names and
4 different owners, has become a cherished part of Pinckneyville;
5 and

6     WHEREAS, On October 28, 2014, the Illinois Office of
7 Tourism announced that Dixie's Cup Cafe was selected as an
8 "Enjoy Illinois: Delicious Destination" award recipient; and

9     WHEREAS, The Illinois Office of Tourism has developed the
10 "Enjoy Illinois: Delicious Destination" award to promote local
11 food establishments around the State that are beloved
12 destinations for visitors and locals alike; and

13     WHEREAS, To be eligible for the Delicious Destination
14 award, restaurants must be nominated by a Convention and
15 Visitors Bureau, a community member, or an Enjoy Illinois
16 social media fan, as well as be a one-of-a-kind restaurant that
17 is authentic to Illinois and is an established part of its
18 community; and

19     WHEREAS, According to a 2013 D.K. Shifflet and Associates
20 study, nearly one-third of leisure travelers to Illinois
21 reported participating in a unique "culinary experience" as a

1 key part of their vacation, proving how important the culinary
2 offerings of Illinois are to the economy; and

3     WHEREAS, Dixie's Cup Cafe represents the numerous local
4 diners, cafes, and restaurants that are cornerstones of their
5 communities throughout Illinois; therefore, be it

6     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
7 NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
8 offer our congratulations to the owners of Dixie's Cup Cafe for
9 being selected for the "Enjoy Illinois: Delicious Destination"
10 award; and be it further

11     RESOLVED, That we honor Dixie's Cup Cafe as an
12 authentically Illinois restaurant and thank the owners of
13 Dixie's Cup Cafe and other recipients of the "Enjoy Illinois:
14 Delicious Destination" award for helping make Illinois great
15 and putting many local communities on the map as culinary
16 destinations; and be it further

17     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
18 presented to the owners of Dixie's Cup Cafe as an expression of
19 our esteem and respect.
