HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate West Chicago Community High School Theatre on being selected to represent the United States in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in Scotland in the summer of 2016; and

WHEREAS, The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is the world's largest performing arts festival with more than 44,000 performances each festival; the 2016 festival will be its 70th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, West Chicago Community High School Theatre, led by director Mark Begovich, was nominated for the strength of their productions and history of public service for such programs as Adopt-a-Sailor, Toys for Tots, Broadway Cares, and more; they were selected after the program was reviewed by the American High School Theatre Festival Board of Advisors, college theatre professors from around the country; and

WHEREAS, The American High School Theatre Festival has been representing the United States at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival since 1994 and is now the largest sponsor of theatre at the Fringe Festival; and

WHEREAS, The theme of the 2015-2016 West Chicago Community High School Theatre season is "Character Counts"; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate West Chicago Community High School Theatre on being selected to represent the United States in the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in the summer of 2016; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to West Chicago Community High School Theatre as an expression of our esteem and respect.
