HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the St. Francis High School girls volleyball team, the Spartans, on winning its fourth straight championship; and

WHEREAS, The Spartans became the first team to capture four straight State titles by defeating Glenbard West High School 25-15 and 25-23 for the Class 4A championship on November 14, 2015 at Redbird Arena in Normal; and

WHEREAS, This was the first State title for the Spartans (39-3) in Class 4A after winning the previous 3 Class 3A titles; and

WHEREAS, The Spartans are helmed by long-time coach, Peg Kopec, who will be retiring after 12 State championships and 40 seasons that began in 1974; she compiled a career record of 1,238-229-2 that includes all 19 of the Spartans' top-4 trophy finishers; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the St. Francis High School girls volleyball team, the Spartans, on winning its fourth straight championship; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Spartans as an expression of our esteem and respect.
