SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Richard Alfred "Dick" Andersen of Lake Forest, who passed away on November 11, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Dick Andersen graduated from Lake Forest High School in 1946, where he was affectionately known as "Andy"; he served 2 years in the United States Marines before enrolling at the University of Michigan, where he was a member of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity; he graduated in 1952 with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics; and

WHEREAS, Dick Andersen worked for the First National Bank of Chicago for 33 years, finally as a Vice-President in the Trust Department-Real Estate Division, where he travelled extensively to Europe and the Middle East; upon retirement, he took further interest in his building materials companies, G.L. Blanchard and Dealers Ready Mix; and

WHEREAS, Dick Andersen was active in his community; he served as a Lake Bluff volunteer firefighter, a Little League coach, a girls' softball coach, and a Trustee of Union Church of Lake Bluff, and he created the Lake Bluff Police Pension Fund; he served for many years on the Board of Trustees of Northland College and was instrumental in establishing the Green Lake Conservancy in Wisconsin, where he and his wife spent much fun time with family and friends; and

WHEREAS, Dick Andersen enjoyed golfing, hunting, trap-shooting, and boating, even once "shooting his age" of 79 in golf; and

WHEREAS, Dick Andersen is survived by his wife of 62 years, Anne (nee Lackie); he was the father of Linn (William) Carey, Brad (Nancy) Andersen, Sally (Robert) Bickel, and Jean (Jeffery) Ott; grandfather of William Carey, Ryan (Emily), Sean, and Brady Andersen, Katherine and Christopher Bickel, and Andrew and Thomas Ott; great-grandfather of Warren and Lila Andersen; and brother of John (Virginia) Andersen; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Richard Alfred "Dick" Andersen, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Dick Andersen as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
