SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of former Illinois State Representative Gerald W. "Jerry" Shea of Burr Ridge, who passed away on December 11, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Rep. Shea graduated from the University of Illinois and DePaul University College of Law; and

WHEREAS, Rep. Shea served 5 terms in the Illinois House of Representatives from 1967 to 1977, including 2 terms in leadership and one as Majority Leader; following the close of his legislative career, he remained active in public service as a member from 1999 to 2002 and as Chairman from 2001 to 2002 of the University of Illinois Board of Trustees; he was also a member of the Board of Directors of the Regional Transportation Authority and a member of several other government commissions; and

WHEREAS, Rep. Shea most recently served as senior principal at the lobbying firm of Shea, Paige & Rogal, Inc; and

WHEREAS, Rep. Shea was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne S. Shea; and

WHEREAS, Rep. Shea is survived by his daughter, Courtney C. Shea; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of former Illinois State Representative Gerald W. "Jerry" Shea, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Rep. Shea as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
