SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Melvin R. "Mel" Bremenkamp of Rock Island, who passed away on December 23, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Melvin Bremenkamp was born in Colby, Kansas to George and Anna Spielman Bremenkamp on August 28, 1937; he served in the United States Army and married Joanna Pierce in Bettendorf, Iowa on October 25, 1980; and

WHEREAS, Melvin Bremenkamp was a systems analyst at the Rock Island Arsenal for many years, retiring in 1993; and

WHEREAS, Melvin Bremenkamp was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church in Moline; he was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan; and

WHEREAS, Melvin Bremenkamp was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Keri Bremenkamp; his sisters, Carol Garrett and Rosemary Shebel; and an infant brother; and

WHEREAS, Melvin Bremenkamp is survived by his wife of 35 years, Joanna; his sons, Gregory Bremenkamp and Matthew (Gena Daniels) Bremenkamp; his stepdaughter, Lisa Regan; his stepson, Keith Pierce; his 12 grandchildren; his great-grandchild; his siblings, Glenn Bremenkamp, Dale Bremenkamp, and Betty Bremenkamp; and his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Steve and Carol Wilson; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Melvin R. "Mel" Bremenkamp, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Melvin Bremenkamp as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
