SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Julia Koffend of McHenry, who passed away on January 6, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Julia Koffend was born in Barberton, Ohio to Andrew and Mary Bavetz on March 19, 1924; she worked at Western Electric in Chicago, where she met her husband, Jim Koffend; they were married on November 6, 1948; and

WHEREAS, Julia Koffend and her husband worked together in their business, Peko Tile and Carpet in Palatine, but her true dedication was to their 3 daughters and her brothers and sisters; and

WHEREAS, Julia Koffend loved her family, children, animals, playing cards with her sisters, and occasional trips to the casino; and

WHEREAS, Julia Koffend was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her siblings, Andrew Bavetz, Mary Bavetz, Frank Bavetz, and Ed Bavetz; and her great-grandson, Henry Buchert; and

WHEREAS, Julia Koffend is survived by her 3 daughters, Margie (Steve) Bjorkman, Linda (Doug) Oeffling, and Carol (Jerry) McCoy; her grandchildren, Stacy Bjorkman, Bret Bjorkman, Alyssa and Jeremy Miller, Tim Oeffling, Juliette Oeffling, Jenna and Michael Dickson, Brian Letzter, Jason McCoy, and Jessica and Matt Howsam; her great-granddaughter, Maya Miller; her siblings, Tony Bavetz, Anne (the late Steve) Redensek, Fran (the late George) Flicek, John Bavetz, Margie (Don) Smith, and Dolores Wojtysiak; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Julia Koffend, and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Julia Koffend as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
