SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Robert W. Wells of Cordova, who passed away on March 20, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Robert Wells was born on December 31, 1923 in Port Byron; his parents were Walter and Alice Wells; he married Lois Kincaid on August 10, 1946 in Wheatland, Iowa; and

WHEREAS, Robert Wells served in the United States Navy during World War II; and

WHEREAS, Robert Wells worked in the family business as a timber buyer for more than 40 years; he and his wife also founded, built, and operated Byron Hills Golf Course in the early 1960s; and

WHEREAS, Robert Wells enjoyed woodworking, restoring antique furniture, fishing, history, and spending time with his family; and

WHEREAS, Robert Wells was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Dale, Warren, Walter, and Royal; and his sisters, Ruth O'Donnell and Lois Vickroy; and

WHEREAS, Robert Wells is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lois; his children, Bob (Pam) Wells, Connie (Lon) Laleman, Walter (Linda) Wells, and Jeanette (Walter) Graham; his 20 grandchildren; his 16 great-grandchildren; his two great-great grandchildren; and his sister, Joyce Billingsley; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Robert W. Wells; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Robert Wells as an expression of our sympathy.
