SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Charles J. McCormick of Colona, who passed away on March 21, 2016; and

WHEREAS, Charles McCormick was born in Astoria to Ralph and Fern Derry McCormick on April 12, 1926; he served in the United States Army during World War II and married Dorothy L. Johnson in Rock Island on August 10, 1949; and

WHEREAS, Charles McCormick retired in 1985 after 49 years of service at the Rock Island Arsenal; and

WHEREAS, Charles McCormick was a coach for the Dodger Dad's Club baseball team for 16 years; he also enjoyed hunting and fishing, small engine repairs, and woodworking; and

WHEREAS, Charles McCormick was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; his parents; his daughter, Linda Littlefield; and his son, Jeff; and

WHEREAS, Charles McCormick is survived by his daughters, Nancy Lugwig, Cindy (Mick) Painter, and Margaret Gardner (Pete Jarvis); his son, Richard (Frances) McCormick; his 10 grandchildren; his 12 great-grandchildren; his three great-great-grandchildren; his sisters, Virginia McCombs, Shirley Dicroce, and Josephine James; and his brother, Dorvan McCormick; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Charles J. McCormick, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Charles McCormick as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
